This important reminder hangs conspicuously on the wall in Dr. Sheldon Deal’s office. It has become quite clear to me that, if my happiness depended on what other people said or did, then I was in deep trouble. In no way would people or situations meet all my models. nor would I meet other peoples models of how I should be. The end result was that I created a lot of suffering in my Iife until I learned this lesson.
